Apple and Klarna Introduce a New Device Leasing Option

Apple launches Apple Upgrade with Klarna, offering U.S. customers flexible monthly leasing for iPhone, Mac, iPad, and Apple Watch with upgrade options.

Apple and Klarna Introduce a New Device Leasing Option

Apple has introduced a new leasing model called Apple Upgrade, created with Klarna, giving eligible customers a more flexible way to access the company's devices through monthly payments in the United States.

The program covers the iPhone, Apple Watch, Mac, and iPad across Apple's online store, the Apple Store app, and physical retail locations. Monthly pricing begins at $17.99 for iPhone, $11.99 for Apple Watch, $24.99 for Mac, and $11.99 for iPad.

Apple says the plan includes one- and two-year terms for iPhone and Apple Watch, while Mac and iPad are available with two- and three-year options. At the end of the lease, customers can upgrade to a newer model, buy the device outright, or return it and leave the program.

The move arrives as consumers look for more adaptable ways to manage premium hardware purchases. Apple also notes that users can reduce monthly costs by trading in an existing device through Apple Trade In. Payments made with Apple Card may also earn 3% Daily Cash back.

To manage the plan, customers can track payments and billing details directly in the Klarna app. Apple is also replacing its previous in-house financing and installment offerings in the U.S. with this new structure.

By combining device access, trade-in value, and digital payment tools, Apple Upgrade reflects a broader shift toward more fluid ownership models in consumer tech, shaping how people may upgrade devices in the years ahead.
