As the tech industry shifts its focus towards advanced AI models, Anthropic is experiencing a remarkable year. The company is poised to surpass its primary competitor, with plans to secure tens of billions in funding, potentially elevating its valuation to approximately $950 billion. Business clients are increasingly favoring Anthropic's Claude over OpenAI's ChatGPT, with recent reports indicating that Anthropic has quadrupled its market share among business customers since May 2025.
Cat Wu, Anthropic's head of product for Claude Code and Cowork, has played a pivotal role in this achievement. Since her arrival in August 2024, Wu has transformed Claude from a basic informational chatbot into a sophisticated coding assistant. Working alongside Boris Cherny, a key member of Anthropic's technical team, Wu has been instrumental in developing new features, often referred to as the "Batman and Robin" of the company.
During a recent interview at the second annual Code with Claude conference in San Francisco, Wu shared insights into product strategy and her vision for the future of AI. She emphasized that the team focuses on maintaining a trajectory of exponential growth rather than reacting to competitors. "If you concentrate too much on what others are doing, you risk falling behind," Wu noted. "Our priority is to remain at the cutting edge of AI development."
Last year, Anthropic introduced six models, with a similar pace expected this year. Wu expressed optimism about continuing this momentum while ensuring that deployments are safe and beneficial. She highlighted the importance of the Glasswing initiative, which provides select partners access to Anthropic's advanced cybersecurity model, Mythos, due to its potential misuse.
Wu also discussed the evolving nature of work, suggesting that future roles may involve managing fleets of AI agents. "It's crucial for managers to understand their domain to effectively oversee these agents. This new skill set will be essential as we integrate AI more deeply into workflows," she explained.
When asked about the future, Wu expressed excitement about the shift towards proactive AI. "We are moving from synchronous development to more automated routines. Soon, Claude will be able to anticipate your tasks and set up automations, enhancing productivity and allowing individuals to focus on creative endeavors," she said.
As AI continues to evolve, Wu's vision highlights a future where technology not only enhances efficiency but also enriches our creative capacities, paving the way for a more innovative and productive society.
