Anthropic is expanding its AI infrastructure footprint with a reported $10 billion agreement with cloud startup Volta, signaling another major step in the race for large-scale computing power.
According to the report, the six-year arrangement will give Anthropic access to cloud compute capacity through a new data center project in Norway. The facility is expected to deliver 133 megawatts of capacity and will be powered by Nvidia's Vera Rubin systems.
Volta, launched earlier this year, is working with Bitdeer on the data center buildout. The project also places Volta within Nvidia's Cloud Partner program, a network of providers using Nvidia GPUs for advanced AI workloads.
The move adds to Anthropic's recent push to secure more computing resources, following earlier agreements with companies such as SpaceX and Amazon. As AI models grow more capable, access to reliable infrastructure is becoming a defining advantage.
This deal points to a future where AI progress will be shaped not only by software, but by the scale and efficiency of the systems that power it.
