Anthropic and Blackstone are placing a bold bet on the next phase of artificial intelligence: not just building stronger models, but helping companies put them to work. Their joint venture, Ode, is designed to guide enterprises through real-world AI adoption with customized deployment support.
Launched in May, Ode was formed with backing from major investors including Blackstone, Hellman & Friedman, and Goldman Sachs. The company grew out of an earlier AI services startup, Fractional AI, which was acquired after Blackstone identified a clear need among its portfolio companies for practical AI implementation.
Ode now operates with about 100 engineers and works closely with Anthropic's applied AI team. Its approach is built around a "Claude-first" strategy, meaning Anthropic's technology is used whenever it fits the task, while other AI tools can also be brought in when needed.
Company leaders say the real value lies in execution. Rather than treating model choice as the main decision, they focus on designing systems that match each organization's workflows, priorities, and business goals. That includes helping companies redesign key processes, improve customer experiences, and deliver AI features that matter at the executive level.
Ode's team is made up of experienced generalist engineers, many with founder backgrounds, and the company aims to scale internationally while keeping a boutique-style focus on quality and measurable impact.
