Amazon is expanding its next-generation voice assistant Alexa+ to India through a beta program that includes Hindi-language support. The company is inviting selected users to try the experience and share feedback as it fine-tunes the product for local use.
According to the invitation sent to customers, participants who join the beta will be notified when the Hindi version becomes available. Amazon also noted that the early software may still include errors and could occasionally misread local expressions or produce inaccurate responses.
The move reflects Amazon's broader effort to make Alexa+ more relevant in markets where users often switch between Hindi and English in everyday conversation. India remains a key opportunity for voice-based AI, especially as more people engage with digital assistants in natural, spoken language.
Amazon originally introduced Alexa in India in 2017 with English support, later adding Hindi compatibility in 2019. Alexa+ was first unveiled in 2025 as a generative AI-powered upgrade, and Amazon has since expanded access to several countries, including the U.K., Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Italy, and Germany.
For now, Alexa+ is not yet publicly available in India, and Amazon has not shared a launch timeline. If the beta performs well, the rollout could help shape a more multilingual and locally aware voice AI experience for one of the world's largest digital markets. The development may influence how future assistants adapt to regional language habits at scale.
