Amazon Pharmacy Expands Same-Day Delivery to Nearly 4,500 Cities in the U.S.

Amazon Pharmacy is set to enhance same-day prescription delivery to nearly 4,500 U.S. cities, improving access to medication for many communities by year-end.

Amazon Pharmacy, the online pharmaceutical branch of the retail giant, is set to enhance its same-day prescription delivery service to almost 4,500 cities and towns across the United States by year-end. This expansion will introduce the service to approximately 2,000 additional communities, including new states like Idaho and Massachusetts.

Launched in 2020, Amazon Pharmacy emerged following the company's acquisition of PillPack for $753 million. In 2023, Amazon introduced RxPass, a service that allows Prime members to access unlimited generic medications for a monthly fee of just $5.

John Love, the vice president of Amazon Pharmacy, emphasized the importance of accessibility in medication delivery, stating, "Patients shouldn't have to choose between speed, cost, and convenience when it comes to their medication, regardless of where they live." He highlighted how their logistics capabilities combined with pharmacy expertise aim to eliminate barriers and expedite treatment.

Additionally, in October, Amazon unveiled prescription vending machines at its One Medical clinics. These kiosks enable patients to retrieve their prescriptions immediately following their appointments, enhancing the overall healthcare experience.
