Amazon is expanding Alexa+ to compatible Fire TV devices in the U.S. at no extra cost, opening the AI assistant to users even without a Prime membership. The rollout is designed to make television more interactive, conversational, and personalized.
With the upgrade, viewers can search for content using natural language, ask for recommendations by mood or theme, and manage smart home features directly from the TV. Amazon also says the assistant can surface Ring camera feeds on supported screens.
The change marks a shift from the earlier pricing model, when Alexa+ was offered as a paid add-on for non-Prime users. Amazon now says eligible devices will receive the upgrade automatically, without a separate app download or subscription step.
Compatible products include current-generation Fire TV Sticks, Fire TV Cube, Amazon Ember smart TVs, and select models from brands such as Hisense and Panasonic that already include Alexa+ support.
The move reflects a wider trend in consumer tech, as major platforms continue weaving AI into everyday entertainment devices. As these tools become more natural and accessible, the living room may evolve into a more responsive digital hub in the years ahead.
