Jenny Wang, the visionary behind Alta, is revolutionizing fashion technology inspired by the iconic film "Clueless." Last year, her startup successfully secured $11 million in funding, allowing users to create digital wardrobes and virtually try on outfits using personalized avatars, reminiscent of Cher's styling prowess in the movie.

Alta's impressive funding round attracted notable investors, including models Jasmine Tookes and Karlie Kloss, along with prominent venture capital firms. Since its launch in 2023, the platform has generated over 100 million outfits and has partnered with brands like Poshmark and the Council of Fashion Designers of America, with more collaborations on the horizon.

Recently, Alta announced its first integration with Public School, a well-known New York City brand. This partnership allows customers to try on the latest collection using their Alta avatar directly on the brand's website. Wang expressed excitement over this collaboration, stating, "Shoppers can style looks from the new collection on their own Alta avatar."

The Public School team, led by designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne, recognized the potential of AI in enhancing customer experiences. Chow emphasized the importance of technology as a partner in modern fashion, aiming to leverage the latest advancements to enrich storytelling and consumer interaction.

Wang highlighted that this integration is one of the first instances where a designer has embedded avatar styling technology into their website. Customers can click on the "Style by Alta" icon to style their avatars and visualize how Public School clothing would look on them.

Additionally, Alta aims to expand this experience to other brands, allowing users to try on clothes across various websites seamlessly. Wang envisions Alta as a crucial element in the future of shopping, providing a personalized identity layer for consumers.

As demand for virtual avatars continues to grow, Alta remains committed to its roots while evolving into a comprehensive digital avatar platform. Wang believes that the consumer app serves as the "Clueless" closet, while the enterprise experience enhances shopper engagement through personalized styling.

To truly succeed in agentic commerce, Wang asserts the need for a robust data layer that understands shoppers' preferences, ensuring a tailored shopping experience.
