Apple's AirPods 5, AirPods 4 and AirPods Pro 3 are compared by ANC, battery life, fit and hearing features in a clear guide for buyers.

AirPods 5, AirPods 4 and AirPods Pro 3: Apple's Earbuds Compared

Apple's latest earbuds lineup brings a clearer choice for users who want better sound, longer battery life, or a more premium listening experience. The new AirPods 5 arrive with active noise cancellation as standard, but Apple's comparison shows the AirPods Pro 3 still lead in noise blocking, offering three times stronger ANC than the AirPods 5.

Noise cancellation and fit

For listeners who prioritize quiet environments, the AirPods Pro 3 remain the strongest option. Still, the AirPods 5 deliver noticeably better ANC than the AirPods 4 with ANC, making them a meaningful step up for many users. In design, the AirPods 5 keep the open-fit style that sits outside the ear canal, which may feel more comfortable for people who prefer a lighter, less sealed fit.

Battery life and practical upgrades

Battery performance also separates the models. The AirPods Pro 3 offer up to eight hours of playback on a single charge and 24 hours with the case. The AirPods 4 with ANC provide five hours per charge and up to 30 hours with the case. The AirPods 5 sit in between, with up to five hours of listening and 22 hours total, or four and 20 hours on the base version without wireless charging.

Apple's $149 AirPods 5 variant adds several useful extras, including a wireless charging case, on-stem volume controls, and a speaker in the case for Find My support. Those additions make the higher-tier version a more complete package for everyday use.

Health features remain exclusive

One important distinction is hearing support. The AirPods Pro 3 can be used as a temporary hearing aid, while the AirPods 5 and AirPods 4 do not include that capability. For users interested in Apple's hearing health tools, the Pro model is the only choice in this lineup.

Overall, Apple's earbuds now offer a more segmented experience, giving users clearer options based on comfort, battery needs, and advanced audio features. This kind of product differentiation may shape the next wave of personal audio innovation.
