Airbnb says AI is speeding up product development, improving support, and powering a new opt-in search test built around natural language and personalization.

Airbnb Accelerates Product Development as It Begins Testing AI Search

Airbnb is deepening its use of artificial intelligence across the product pipeline, with CEO Brian Chesky saying the technology is helping the company build and test new features at a much faster pace.

During the company's latest earnings call, Chesky said AI has cut the time from idea to launch by as much as 60% in key initiatives. He added that Airbnb has also increased the number of features and improvements shipped this year by nearly 80% compared with the same period last year.

The company says AI is already supporting areas such as search, sign-up, checkout, payments, and host onboarding. On the customer support side, Airbnb has expanded its AI agent to more than 50 languages, with voice support planned for later this year. Nearly 45% of issues that begin with the AI agent are resolved without human intervention.

Airbnb is now preparing to test a new AI-powered search experience. Rather than replacing the current search and filter tools, the company will offer a toggle so users can choose between the familiar interface and a natural-language search mode. In this format, results will appear visually, with AI-generated titles and personalized highlights.

Chesky said the company is focusing on AI for discovery, support, and practical travel use cases instead of relying on a chatbot-style interface alone. Airbnb also reported a strong quarter, with revenue rising 17% year over year to $3.6 billion and adjusted EBITDA up 21% to $1.3 billion. The company's next steps suggest AI will continue shaping how travel platforms design faster, more intuitive, and more personalized digital experiences.
