2026 James Beard Awards Nominees Announced: Celebrating Culinary Excellence

The James Beard Foundation has revealed its nominees for the prestigious 2026 James Beard Awards, a hallmark of excellence in the culinary world. These awards honor the most outstanding chefs and restaurants across the United States. Earlier in February, the foundation recognized six exemplary establishments with its America's Classic Award, celebrating independently owned restaurants that possess enduring charm.

The latest announcement, made on March 31, detailed nominees in various categories, including Outstanding Restaurateur, Best New Restaurant, and Best Chef for each of the foundation's twelve regions. Additionally, the Achievement Awards were presented, with Damián Diaz and Othon Nolasco's initiative, No Us Without You, receiving the Humanitarian of the Year Award, while renowned chef Nancy Silverton was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. The Impact Award recognized five notable organizations and individuals, including the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA) and the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Kitchen.

On May 6, the foundation unveiled the finalists for its Book and Media Awards, which encompass cookbooks, food-related non-fiction, and media formats such as podcasts and documentaries. The culmination of these celebrations will take place during the James Beard Award ceremonies in Chicago, scheduled from June 13 to June 15.
