Samsung's One UI 9, built on Android 17, expands the Galaxy experience with new tools for customization, focus, accessibility and AI transparency. The update is arriving across recent Galaxy phones, with broader device support expected to follow.
Smarter focus and flexible controls
AI Network Guard can restrict internet access for selected apps, helping users create distraction-free periods. Its Downtime setting allows those apps to reconnect during chosen hours.
The redesigned Quick Panel offers greater layout freedom: controls can be moved, resized and added to match individual routines. Sound controls are also separated for more precise adjustments.
AI tools for everyday creativity
My FanCam uses Galaxy AI to keep one selected person centered in a newly cropped video clip. It is designed for moments such as performances, celebrations and sporting activities, provided the original recording includes sufficient framing.
Users can also create up to three personalized Now Brief cards. These cards can prioritize weather, wellness information or selected video categories, making daily updates more relevant.
Comfort, style and faster access
Motion Assist introduces moving on-screen cues intended to improve visual comfort while using a phone in a vehicle. Colors, shapes and transparency levels can be adjusted in settings.
Compatible Motion Photos can now become animated wallpapers, bringing subtle movement to the home and lock screens. Meanwhile, the Finder search bar can be placed directly on the home screen for faster access to apps, files and settings.
More visibility and practical note-taking
A new AI assistant activity dashboard lets users review actions performed by AI-enabled apps, with filters for the previous 24 hours or seven days. The feature adds a clearer layer of oversight as AI becomes more integrated into mobile workflows.
Samsung Notes gains a Tape tool for covering, highlighting or decorating sections of notes. It can support revision sessions, journaling and the selective sharing of information.
Device care in one place
The new Warranty and Care area gathers warranty status, diagnostics, repair booking and Samsung Care+ options in a single menu. Together, these additions position One UI 9 as a more adaptable and transparent mobile platform, pointing toward smartphones that increasingly adjust to personal habits without losing user control.
