The 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair has announced 35 exhibitors for its next London edition, returning to Somerset House from October 15 to 18. Founded in London in 2013, the fair has grown into an international platform with editions in Marrakech and New York.
This year's program will run alongside Frieze London and Frieze Masters, placing African art at the center of one of the city's busiest cultural weeks. A key highlight will be West Wind, a spotlight exhibition curated by art historian Nancy Dantas, which brings together modern African artists through a lens of unity, memory, and artistic legacy.
Fair founder and director Touria El Glaoui says the 14th London edition is designed to deepen the conversation between modernist pioneers and contemporary artists, offering a broader view of African art history and its continuing evolution.
With galleries joining from cities including Lagos, London, Paris, Cape Town, Cairo, Geneva, and Johannesburg, the fair reflects a wide creative network and a growing global interest in African art. The London edition is set to reinforce the fair's role as a bridge between heritage, innovation, and international exchange. Its next chapter may help shape how African art is presented and understood worldwide.
